How not to encourage volunteers at a quilt guild

1. Totally ignore the contributions whether physical donations or effort;  really makes the volunteer want to continue;
2. Point out all the shortcomings of the volunteer especially their politics;  even liberal democrats get fed up after a long tirade;
3. Allow small groups to vocally bully the majority;
